The White House estimates the proposed freeze would save $2 billion in the current fiscal year and $28 billion during the next five years, with a savings impact increasing to $60 billion over the next decade.
白宫预测说,随着接下来十年储蓄效应会增加至280亿,因此此项冻结工资提议会在当前这一财政年度为政府省下20亿美元,在未来五年内省下280亿美元。

In announcing the proposed pay freeze, President Obama referenced the $1.3 trillion federal spending deficit that he inherited from his predecessor, Republican George W. Bush.
在宣布这项冻结工资提议中,奥巴马总统又提到了,由于前任总统乔治·H·W·布什执政中遗留下的问题,现在美国联邦财政赤字已达1.3万亿美元。

Saying that steps he has taken so far for economic recovery have produced 10 months of private-sector job growth, Mr.Obama said more needs to be done.
