[p=21, 2, left]Cowell has assembled talent from his [b]stable[/b] of X Factor winners alongside [b]established acts [/b]such as Take That to record the song, the[b]proceeds[/b] of which will be divided between a UK newspaper’s Haitian[b]fund[/b] and the Disasters Emergency Committee, an [b]umbrella organisation [/b]made up of 13 of the UK’s leading [b]aid agencies[/b].[/p][p=21, 2, left]Music fans who want to see their favourite artists gathered in one place for the recording of the single will be sadly disappointed however.[/p][p=21, 2, left]That’s because the performers are recording only a line or two of the song which will then be [b]stitched together[/b] digitally to complete the track.[/p][p=21, 2, left]It’s all a[b] far cry [/b]from the early days of charity singles when singers would[b]huddle round[/b] a microphone, giving a live performance.[/p][p=21, 2, left]Other famous faces have also been [b]doing their bit [/b]for the Haitian victims.[/p][p=21, 2, left]The British band Radiohead [b]raised[/b] more than $500,000 (3m yuan) for the[b]appeal[/b] by performing a special [b]gig[/b] in Los Angeles.[/p][p=21, 2, left]Hollywood actor George Clooney’s Hope for Haiti Now [b]telethon[/b] has so far raised $61m (414m yuan) thanks to celebrities like Madonna and Jay Z.[/p][p=21, 2, left]The 7.0 magnitude earthquake on 12 January killed as many as 200,000 people and has left an estimated 1.5 million people homeless.[/p][/size][/font][/color]
