Existing[b]game franchises[/b] also performed well with titles such as GTA IV and Halo 3 smashing [b]sales records[/b] on the days of their release.[/p][p=21, 2, left]So what does 2009 hold for the games industry?[/p][p=21, 2, left]Some of the most [b]influential[/b] people in videogame production spoke to the BBC to give their [b]predictions[/b] of where gaming might be heading over the next twelve months.[/p][p=21, 2, left]Will Wright, the creator of The Sims and Spore, predicts a [b]merging[/b] of game worlds with reality. He can [b]foresee[/b] a "[b]mobile game[/b] that interacts with a [b]GPS[/b] (global positioning system) so that where you [b]physically[/b] play the game in the real world will have a direct effect on the game you are playing".[/p][p=21, 2, left]Paul Barnett, the [b]creative director[/b] on Warhammer Online, said the industry would struggle to find a[b] coherent identity[/b], predicting "a continuing fight between games defining themselves as 'art', 'design' and 'entertainment'".[/p][p=21, 2, left]Some commentators believe that games played communally [b]online[/b] by large numbers of people will become more like [b]social-networking[/b] than game-playing.[/p][p=21, 2, left]Peter Ryan, the creator of the website which supports the Guitar Hero series of games, says, in the future, the online "community will be as[b]critical[/b] to the[b] overall experience[/b] of a game as the game itself".[/p][p=21, 2, left]So what do you think?
