A: Who was in charge?

A: 吉姆，怎么了？
J: 有个客户打电话来抱怨我们的工作。
A: 谁负责其事呢？
J: 又是汤姆。他真没用。真不敢相信。



重点解说：

★ client「客户」

★ complain「抱怨」

★ be in charge (of ~)「负责(~)，主管(~)」He was left in charge of the shop while the manager was away.「经理不在时由他负责店务。」cf. under [in] (someone's) charge「由(某人)照料」These patients are under the charge of Dr. Watson.「这些病人由华特森医生照料。」take charge of ~「接管~」The general was asked to take charge of the whole army.「这位将军被要求接管整支军队。」

★ He's good for nothing.「他真没用。」此语用于批评人什么事都做不好，一无是处。good for nothing的意思是「一无用处」cf. This ticket is good until next April.「这张票有效期至四月。」
