Bruce: Well,yes,we do.We're trying to teach our students how to read and understand by listening these english lessons.
Peter: So we're not simply chatting,in fact we do have a plan over here that is we want to acquaint our students with more of english.
Bruce: Our plan is to teach english.
Peter: It sounds spooky.
Bruce: It certainly does.
Bruce: Well,in the United States,Halloween is a spooky night.
Peter: Following this article,Doctor Death.This article sounds a little spooky,but we'll find out about this.
So I'd like to have Bruce read this lesson.[/size]
[size=4]Text: Whether very sick people should be helped to end their own lives is a question many people can't answer.However,doctor Kevorkian is an exception.That he's done this more than 20 times is known to everyone. Some say what he's doing is immoral. They call him Doctor Death. Other say what he's doing is merciful. They call it mercy killing.Whether doctor Kevorkian should be allowed to continue doing this is a real problem for the government.There seems to be two sides to the argurment. Which side are you on?[/size]
[size=4]Bruce: I helped Mother (to)wash the dishes last night. do the dishes/do the laundry
Bruce: Exactly,right,the lanundry means your dirty clothing.So if you wash your dirty clothes,we can say you'll do your laundry.
Peter: put an end to /come to an end
Bruce: When the movie came to an end,many people were crying.
Bruce: Every rule has its exception/There's an exception to every rule.
Bruce: With an exception of New York,Americans own cars in other American cities.
Bruce: Well,New York's such a big crowded city that owning a car is very inconvenient.So most of New Yorkers do not own a car.But in other American cities,
almost all Americans own their car.
Bruce: Are you free/availabe?(Don't use convenient)
Peter: Is it convenient for you to do.
Peter: That he doesn't study makes me angry.
Peter: I'll side with you.
Peter: One is known by company he keeps.[/size]

Dick says:Well, helping people die with a dignity is not that bad,isn't it?

He says:Come on,be realistic.Those people who want to die are suffering.It's better that they go quickly and painlessly.

B: We teach our children to remember/memorize their telephone numbers by heart.
B: Peter's really a very kind of man at heart.
P: Burce was simply making an example of sentence,but anyway, I am very very happy.
P: I was beaten up again.
B: To beat one's brains means to think very very hard and long about something. For example, I stayed up all night and beat my brains, but I counldn't think of the answer.

B: To my understanding/knowledge,Kangaroos live only in Australia.
P: If you don't have a rat Bruce or if you don't have a kangaroo,you can put it this way,try to catch a rat and then get a bag for it,and he'll be a kangaroo.
B: This is Peter's humor.
P: Join is learning English.He's doing the right thing.He knows Englsih is an international/a universal language.
P: So we can say to our friends.If they begin to learn English,we can tell them:You're doing the right thing.
P: Don't be afraid of making mistakes while speaking English.
B: Be thick-skinned and don't worry what people say about your english.
B: Well,I like that one.
P: Bruce,you've been working too hard.You worked day and night.You got only one hour for a sleep.It's very dangrous,you're doing damages to your heath.
B: Where there's a will,there's a way.
P: If you don't work hard when young,you'll suffer when old.
B: Yes,I know that.

Sorry I have no idea of that.You know ,I learn english just by teaching myself,and my major is not english,,so I never go to join english training with exception of ESEC which is organised by our school.回复 #434 ysenk 的帖子
