When he reached it he discovered, to his great disappointment, that it contained but a very little water, and that so low in the pitcher that he could not reach it. He tried every means in his power to get at the water, even endeavoring(努力) to overturn the vessel, but this he was not strong enough to do. At last, seeing some small stones lying about, he brought them one by one and dropped them down the neck of the pitcher, and, thus, by degrees, he raised the water up to the brim(边,口), when he was able to drink [color=red]to his heart’s content(心满意足)[/color].
