新东方vocabulary 1

今天开始我从我学习的书本中找出一些有特别意思的平常的单词来与大家分享：
1.anchor
n.精神上的支撑，支持
He moved around the country often,but his family was an anchor for him.
2.anxious
adj.渴望的
Since it was Rob's first date,he was more nervous than he was anxious.
3.appeal
vi.上诉，申诉（to）
Judgments made in a criminal case can usually be appealed to a higher court,which can either overturn or uphold a lower court ruling.
4.appreciate
vt.感激
I appreciate your advice in this important matter.
5.approximate
v.接近，近似
Your latest design approximates much more closely what I understood the building would be like.
6.arise and arouse
arise
vi.出现，发生；起因于
If something unexpected arises at the office,I will be home late.
arouse
vt.刺激，激起，唤醒
His refusal to walk through the metal detector before boarding the plane aroused the guard'suspicion.
