英语口语表达：Over the top 太过分了

over the top，over就是在某个东西之上。 Top的意思是顶部， over the top就是超过顶部，那也就是太过分了。
下面我们来听一个例句。

这是一位家长在抱怨他女儿学校里的老师对待学生的方式。

Of course, the students need to be disciplined, but what their teachers did was over the top. You cannot make thirteen year olds line up all afternoon in the hot sun. That's what they do to prisoners of war.

这位家长说：当然有必要管教他们，但是他们的老师做得也太过分了。你不能让13岁的孩子整个下午都列队站在那么热的太阳底下。 这是对待战俘的做法。
