[p=30, 2, center][b]Pandora[/b][/p][p=30, 2, left]After the stealing of fire[font=宋体]，[/font]Zeus became increasingly unkind to men[font=宋体]．[/font]One day he ordered his son Hephaestus tobuild an image of a beautiful maiden out of clay[font=宋体]．[/font]He then asked the gods and goddesses to award her with different kinds of gifts[font=宋体]．[/font]Among others[font=宋体]，[/font]Athena clothed her in an attractive coat and Hermes gave her the power of telling lies[font=宋体]．[/font]A charming young lady[font=宋体]，[/font]she was the first woman that ever lived[font=宋体]．[/font]Zeus called her Pandora[font=宋体]．[/font]Because she had received from each of the gods and goddesses a gift[font=宋体]．[/font]The gift was harmful to men[font=宋体]．[/font][/p][p=30, 2, left]Zeus decided to send her down to men as a present[font=宋体]．[/font]So Hermes them essenger brought her to Epimetheus[font=宋体]，[/font]brother of Prometheus[font=宋体]．[/font]The greatness of her beauty touched the hearts of all who looked upon her[font=宋体]，[/font]and Epimetheus happily received her into his house[font=宋体]．[/font]He had quite forgotten Pometheus' warning[font=宋体]：[/font]never to accept anything from Zeus[font=宋体]．[/font]The couple lived a happy life for some time[font=宋体]．[/font]Then trouble came on to the human world[font=宋体]．[/font][/p][p=30, 2, left]When he was busy with teaching men the art of living[font=宋体]，[/font]Prometheus had left a bigcask in the care of Epimetheus[font=宋体]．[/font]He had warned his brother not to open the lid[font=宋体]．[/font]Pandora was a curious woman[font=宋体]．[/font]She had been feeling very disappointed that her husband did not allow her to take a look at the contents of the cask[font=宋体]．[/font]One day[font=宋体]，[/font]when Epimetheus was out[font=宋体]，[/font]she lifted the lid and out itcame unrest and war[font=宋体]，[/font]Plague and sickness[font=宋体]，[/font]theft and violence[font=宋体]，[/font] grief sorrow[font=宋体]，[/font]and all the other evils[font=宋体]．[/font]The human world was hence to experience these evils[font=宋体]．[/font]Only hope stayed within the mouth of the jar and never flew out[font=宋体]．[/font]So men always have hope within their hearts[font=宋体]．[/font][/p][p=30, 2, center][b]**** Hidden Message *****[/b][/p] Curiosity kills the cat. mark
