Ya Te Dije Adiós -- Mariajosé

Her musical pursuits began in 1992 when she and five neighborhood friends came together to form what would become the teen musical sensation of their generation. Zeroing in on the child and young adult market, Kabah became a multi-platinum-selling act with a career that spanned better than 12 years. Mariajosé being one of the sextet's more visible talents, she was encouraged to engage in the pursuit of a solo career. Her debut single, "¿Quién Eres Tu?," hit Mexican pop charts at number 99 and climbed steadily thereafter. Mariajosé's less-than-kid-friendly promotional materials and appearance on the cover of magazines like Maxim may have shocked her Kabah fans. The shift seemed profitable nonetheless. Her debut record, Mariajosé, hit number 56 on sales charts two weeks after its release. Mariajosé's popularity blossomed when she was invited to open for Gwen Stefani on the Mexican leg of her international Sweet Escape Tour. Mariajosé performed alongside the U.S. pop princess at some of Mexico's largest venues, including D.F.'s Palacio de los Deportes. In the summer of 2007 she embarked on a tour of the States alongside fellow Mexican pop acts LU and Motel. At its peak, Mariajosé reached number 15 on Mexican pop airplay charts. Though still a far cry from the level of success she was able to obtain with Kabah (whose two most recent releases hit number two and number 11), Mariajosé's debut was among the strongest the Mexican pop genre saw in 2007.
