英语中与“派对”相关的习惯用语


人们都喜欢参加又有吃又好玩的社交聚会，也就是party。今天我们就来讲讲由party这个词发展而来的习惯用语。

      第一个习惯用语是： life of the party。 Life意思是生命，它也可以解释为“活力”或者“精华”。Life of the party是指“在聚会中活跃气氛的中心人物”。
例句-1：People who give parties always invite Jenny because they know she'll be the life of the party. She knows everybody in town, helps guests get to know each other, makes sure they get plenty to eat and makes everybody feel very comfortable.
人们举办派对时总会邀请珍妮，因为他们知道她能够活跃气氛。她认识镇上的每个人，所以在聚会上能为客人相互引见介绍，而且她还会确保大伙都有足够的食物，让每个人都感到舒畅。
      第二个习惯用语： party pooper。
Pooper来自poop。 Poop这个词有一种解释是筋疲力尽，说poop out意思是累得喘不过气来了。那么party pooper是聚会上什么样的人呢？我们通过一个例子来体会吧：
例句-2：Honey, let's not invite Joe. He's a real party pooper. He puts on this sour look like his stomach hurts, has nothing good to say about anybody, doesn't even smile at other people's jokes and always looks like he'd rather be any place else.
亲爱的，我们不要请乔了。他只会扫兴。乔老是愁眉苦脸的，好象在胃疼，而且他不苟言笑，跟旁人无话可谈，听了别人说的笑话甚至连笑都不笑。他总是看起来好像是宁可不来赴会的模样。
根据这位先生对乔的这番描述，乔在聚会上真是个孤僻冷漠、兴味索然而令人扫兴的人。这就是party pooper这个习惯用语的意思。

be the life of the party  or be the party pooper,,,it is a question.....ha-ha,,,we know  what we should do.   After all,  one  for all  ,all for  one..we gain help maybe  just because we are willing to lend  a hand :
