Situation 1
Jim: Hi, Peter
Peter: Hi, Jim
Jim: Peter, I’m not happy about this. This is the third time you’re late for football practice. You have to do something about this.
Peter: Er…, I’m sorry, Jim. What’s the big deal so I’m a few minutes late. What difference does it make?
Jim: What difference does it make? We have to wait for you. Look! Everybody is here and ready to play. We don’t like waiting for you. Please try to be on time in the future.
Peter: Ok, I will try.
Situation 2
Mary: Hi, Ann, have you seen my calculator?
Ann: Hi, Mary, oh, I forgot to tell you I needed that calculator yesterday and I borrowed yours. I hope you don’t mind.
Mary: What? You borrowed my calculator without asking? How can you do that? You always do that ---borrowing things from me without asking and then you don’t return it on time, either.
Ann: I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were so upset about it.
Situation 3
Adam: Hi, John
John: Hi, Adam, How is going?
Adam: Pretty good. Look! I have something I need to tell you
John: ok, What’s up?
Adam: Well, you know I borrowed your CD player yesterday.
John: Yes.
Adam: Well, I think it’s broken.
John: What? Broken? What happened?
Adam: I didn’t do anything. I’m just listening when it suddenly stop, I can’t make it play again.
John: En… That’s strange. I never had other problems with it before. Are you sure you didn’t do anything to it?
Adam: Yeah. I just listen to it. But don’t worry, I’ll ask my uncle to fix it when he comes back. |
