爱情三部曲之---失恋
失恋(lost love or breakup)：
His relationship with her is winding down, not moving forward.
(他与她的关系，停顿下来，不再前进。)(to wind down = to slow down ; 动词时态是 wound , winding)
He left a bad taste in her mouth.
(他留给她一个坏印象。)
(bad taste = bad impression)
He is the man for whom she feels no attraction , catch or no catch.
(不管他的条件怎样，她对他没有好感。 )
(catch or no catch = regardless of qualifications)
He got the point when she stood him up.
(被她放鸽子以后，他就明白了她的意思。)
(She stood him up = She did not show up for the date)
She allowed herself to become the "side dish" of a man who values his money more than he values her.
(他把钱看得比她还重要；她在他心中只占次要的地位。)(side dish本指配菜，这里指次要 = low priori-ty or second fiddle)
Their long-distance relationship took a sudden dive.
(他们远距的交往关系，突然下降。)(dive = drop)
She feels like she has been taken for a ride.
(她觉得她自己被利用了。)
(to be taken for a ride =to be taken advantage of or be-ing cheated)
He has to break a hip for him to say, "I love you."
(对他来说「我爱你」是要花很大力气才能说出口的。 )(to break a hip = very difficult ; 是夸大说法。)
She does not want to make a life for him ; they always get into a tiff.
(她不要与他共同生活；他们常常争吵。)
(to make a life for someone = to live together ; to get into a tiff = to quarrel with someone)
She feels she has been lied to all along.
(她感到一直被骗。)
He makes up every excuse under the sun for her.
(他对她捏造各种借口。)
(every excuse under the sun = all kinds of excuses)
She is tired of being a second fiddle ; she has been e-motionally abandoned.
(她对处于次要地位感到厌烦；她在感情上已遭遗弃。)She is seeing signs of a relationship doo med to fail.
(她看到感情注定要失败的预兆。)
(doomed to fail = doomed to be failure = definitely to fail)
She was out of his league, so he never asked her out a-gain.
(她与他是不同类型的人，所以他不再约她出去。)
( to be out of someone's league是与某人不属同一类型的人= not on someone's level)
She feels like a big fool for sticking with him so long through thick and thin.
(不顾艰难与他长期相处，她觉得自己像个大傻瓜。)
He makes no commitment to her ; he is a total commit-ment - phobe.
(他对她不肯作出承诺；他是一位憎恶承诺的人。)
She made her relationship with him disappear in a puff of smoke.(她与他的关系，很快就结束了。)
(in a puff of smoke = immediately)
Her prince has transformed into a frog.
(她的王子，变成了青蛙。)
They have not been in a loving and caring relationship ; they yell at each other or call each other names.
(他们没有关爱的感情；他们互相叫嚷、对骂。)
Finally she broke up with her boyfriend of two years.
(最后她与相处两年的男友分手了。)
After the breakup, she is no longer able to laugh or lighten up.(失恋后，她笑不出来也轻松不起来。)
(lighten up = relax)
She was crying her eyes out because of the breakup.
(由于失恋，她哭肿了眼。)
(to cry one's eyes out = to cry a lot)
Like women, men need to adjust their routines after a breakup.(女人和男人一样，分手后都要修正他们日常生活方式。)
A romantic breakup does not have to mean a break-down in life.(感情的失意，未必就是生命的崩溃)(breakdown = ruin)
Heartache does not have to feel like heartburn and the sadness can be conquered.
(心痛不像胃痛；伤心是能克服的。) (heartburn是指不消化等的胃病)
It is better to have loved and lost than never to have lover at all.
(爱过而又失去，要比从未爱过好些。)
The memory of your love with her is the most important legacy.
(你跟她相爱的回忆，是最重要的精神财富。) |
