【阅读】关于篮球High School Basketball Rules on Fouls
本帖最后由 leenyao 于 2011-4-8 13:37 编辑
Overview
Many high school basketball games are determined not by which team has the better athletes or makes more jump shots, but at the free-throw line. When a team picks up one foul after another, the opponent spends much of the game at the line, shooting unguarded 15-foot set shots. It's the easiest shot in the game, hence the line's nickname: "the charity stripe." Familiarize yourself with the rules so you're not overly charitable to your opponents.
Defensive Fouls
When playing defense, there are several things a player can do to earn a foul call. Players may reach to steal the ball but cannot create contact with the ball-handler. They also may not slap, push or body-bump an offensive player in a way that forces the player from his natural dribbling or shooting motion. Defensive players also may not hold opponents, even momentarily. Your opponent doesn't need to have possession for you to draw a foul. Illegal contact of players who are moving without the ball is referred to as a loose-ball foul.
Offensive Fouls
Fouls can be called on offensive players as well. When a defensive play establishes a legal defensive stance, taking his position before contact that knocks him down or otherwise illegally restricts his ability to make a play, the offensive player can be called for a foul and the ball is turned over. Defensive players most commonly draw charging fouls by setting their feet and standing in the path of a basket-bound ball-handler. But an offensive foul also can be called when an defensive player attempts to block a shot and an offensive player jumps into him, creating excessive contact.
Free Throws
When a high school player fouls an opponent who is in the act of shooting, the offensive player is rewarded with two free throws -- unless the shot goes in, in which case the player gets just one. This is known as a three-point play. Non-shooting fouls aren't rewarded with free throws unless the offending team has reached a certain number of fouls in that period. When a team has committed its seventh foul of the half, the opponents go into the "one-and-one," meaning they're rewarded with at least one free throw; by making the first, they receive a second. Once a team has compiled 10 fouls in a half, the opponent gets two free throws every time.
Fouling Out
Besides keeping your opponent from piling points at the stripe, the potential for disqualification is another reason to avoid excessive fouling. While NBA players aren't disqualified from a game until they've committed six fouls, high school and college players foul out of a game after five. This can affect the outcome of a game in two ways: In addition to possibly losing a star player to fouls, coaches often are forced to bench players with multiple fouls for long stretches to preserve them for the latter stages of the game.
