Three scientists have won the 2011 Nobel Prize for Medicine. The three are Bruce Beutler of the United States, Jules Hoffmann of Luxembourg and Ralph Steinman of Canada. The Nobel Committee praised them for increasing understanding of the body’s ability to fight disease.
