                He Who Hesitates Is Lost

Dialogue
Mike is in Vienna with his girlfriend,Daisy.
Mike: Are you having a good time,Daisy?
Daisy: Are you kidding? I'm having the time of my life. I love the concerts.
Mike: Concert-going is fantastic, but what else can we do?
Daisy: Biking along the banks of the river Danube could be fun.
Mike: It sounds like a great idea.
Daisy: Let's do it then.
Mike: You're right. As they say,he who hesitates is lost.

He who hesitates is lost:
----We have this title "He who hesitates is lost".Now we have this word 'he',in this case,'he' is the subject. he = anyone who=one who=whose who. "He who hesitates is lost"="Anyone who hesitates is lost"="One who hesitates is lost"="Those who hesitate are lost". lost: (1)he's lost . (2)i'm new here,i just got lost.
---- He who works hard will be successful.= Anyone/anybody who works hard will be successful.= Those who word hard will be successful.
----hesitate:  If you have questions, don't hesitateto ask me.
     lost : be lost in sth. i was lost in that music.
----Sure. Or you could also say "Don't talk to Morris now ,he's lost/absorbed in his work".
---- He who hesitates is a loser.

Mike is in Vienna with his girlfriend,Daisy:
----Daisy is a beautiful little flower,but remember if you're talking about the flower, then we don't capitalize the 'd'.
----Probally,they are on vacation there(Vienna).   
----I'm sorry,Peter,I don't know what "vacation" means.
----In my dictionary ,there's no such a word as "vacation". This means that  i work all day, day  and  night .
---- I visited Italy and France while on vacation last year.

Are you having a good time?:
have a good time doing sth.
---- He always has a good time (in) camping.
----I had a good time dancing last night. Bruce always has a good time working for me.
have a hard time (have difficulty) in doing sth.
----Foreigners have a hard time learning how to write Chinses characters.
----But Bruce can at least write one word/ Chinses character ,that's 一.
----have a good time = have fun =have a great time= have lots of fun =have a lot of fun (doing sth.)

Are you kidding ?:

----How many kids do you have?=How many children do you have?
----I hvae two kids. Same as you.
----Mr. Wang who lives next to me has three ears. Oh come on.you must be kidding (me).

Concert-going is fantastic:
concert:  put on a concert.  put on / hold a meeting
----The artist will put on a new exhibit next month.
----House-cleaning is Peter's favorite activity.
fantastic = great = wonderful = cool = awesome = terrific
----Mozart's music is fantastic.
---- What do you think that movie?
----It's terrific.

Biking along the banks of the river Danube could be fun:
could be fun-> can be fun -> must be fun-> be fun
fun and funny:
----Wow,that movie is funny. Learning English is fun.
---- Bruce is fun,Peter looks funny.
---- He's a fun man to be with.
---- Fun. we always use it with 'have a good time'. If you like to do something.,It's a good time,  you say "there's a lot of fun".
But if something makes you laugh,then we say "it's funny."
----The students made fun of the new kid in the class.

It sounds like a great idea:=Sounds like a great idea.=Sounds good/great.
---- I'm going to use a different verb. Tastes  like garbage (Peter's cooking).
---- He picked up the garbage, and threw it into the garbagecan.
---- Let's go see a movie tonight.
----Sounds like a good idea.

Lesson 5
                Bungee Jumping


Bungee jumping looks like fun.
It makes me nervous just to watch someone do it.
It certainly takes a lot of guts to jump one thousand feet above the water with only a rope tied to your legs.
It scares me just to think about it.
However, it is something I really want to do one day.
Some people think I'm crazy.
They say to jump is foolish enough, but to have to pay for it is madness.
I don't agree.
For me, to live a short and exciting life is far better than to live a long and boring one.
What do you think?
