Crowd: You got him! You got him!
Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris (Voice-over): Only ever met one man I wouldn't want to fight.
Man: I can't stop that.
Frankie Dunn: Here. Get out of here, you useless tit.
Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris (Voice-over): When met him, he was already the best cutman in the business.
Big Willie Little: Can you stop it?
Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris (Voice-over): Started training and managing in the '60s, but he never lost his gift.
Frankie Dunn: No.
Man: Let me have a look at him.
Frankie Dunn: He's fine. He's fine.
Man: Well, he ain't if you don't stop this bleeding.I’ll give you one more round.
Referee: Seconds out. Let's go.
Big Willie Little: What do we do? Tell me what to do.
Frankie Dunn: Let him hit you.
Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris (Voice-over): Sometimes, there’s just nothing you can do. Cut's too wide too close to the bone... Maybe you got a severed vein... or you just can't get the coagulant deep enough.
Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris (Voice-over): There are all kinds of combinations you come up against down in the different layers of meat, and Frankie knew how to work every one. People love violence. They slow down at a car wreck to check for bodies. Same people claim to love boxing. They got no idea what it is. Boxing is about respect - getting it for yourself and taking it away from the other guy.
Frankie Dunn: I’ll warm up the car.
Maggie Fitzgerald: Mr Dunn?
Frankie Dunn: Hmm. I owe you money?
Maggie Fitzgerald: No, sir.
Frankie Dunn: I know your mama?
Maggie Fitzgerald: Don't rightly know, sir.
Frankie Dunn: Then what is it you want?
Maggie Fitzgerald: I was on the undercard. I won my fight, too. Maggie Fitzgerald.
Frankie Dunn: Well, Maggie Fitzgerald, what's up?
Maggie Fitzgerald: Did you happen to see it?
Frankie Dunn: Nope.
Maggie Fitzgerald: I did pretty good. Thought you might be interested in training me.
Frankie Dunn: I don't train girls.
Maggie Fitzgerald: Maybe you should. People see me fight say I’m pretty tough.
Frankie Dunn: Girlie, tough ain't enough.
Hogan: It’s a mistake.
Big Willie Little: Car should be able to back up, Frankie.
Frankie Dunn: Just push, will you?
Big Willie Little: What did Hogan want?
Frankie Dunn: Offered us a title shot.
Big Willie Little: 'Bout time.
Frankie Dunn: I turned him down flat. Two or three more fights, you'll be ready.
Big Willie Little: Been two or three more fights for a long time now, Frankie.
Frankie Dunn: Look, Willie, you get one shot at the title. You lose it, it may not come around again. Now, two or three more fights, and we'll be ready.
Big Willie Little: Whatever you say, Frankie.
Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris (Voice-over): Frankie liked to say that boxing is an unnatural act, that everything in boxing is backwards. Sometimes best way to deliver a punch is step back.

1. Cutman

A cutman is a person responsible for preventing and treating physical damage to a fighter during the breaks between rounds of a full contact match such as a boxing, kickboxing (跆拳道) or a mixed martial arts bout. Cutmen typically handle swelling (肿胀), nosebleeds (鼻出血) and lacerations (commonly called cuts 伤口). The rules of full contact sports stipulate that these injuries can be a cause for premature match stoppage (比赛中断), counting as a loss to the injured fighter. The cutman is therefore essential to the fighter, and can be a decisive factor in the outcome of the match.

The compensation for cutmen varies, generally staying within 1-3% of fighter's prize money. For many fighters on a low budget, the cutman duties are performed by their cornerman While most athletic commissions require cutmen to be licensed, there is usually no formal training or certification required. Most cutmen learn their trade through apprenticeship and self-education.

Cutmen should not be confused with fight doctors, whose task is closer to that of neutral referees, providing medical advice and monitoring the safety of both fighters in accordance with regulations or law.

2. I’ll give you one more round.

3. Seconds out

相当于 Time’s up “时间到”的意思。

4. Warm up

It's important to warm up before you play any sport.

I'll go out and warm up the car.

5. Undercard

The undercard or preliminary matches refers to any bouts that occur before the headline or 'Main Event' of a particular boxing, wrestling, or other bout-style sporting match. Typically the undercard is intended to provide fans with an opportunity to see up-and-coming fighters or fighters who are lesser known and less popular than their counterparts in the main event. The undercard also ensures that if the main event ends quickly fans will still feel that they received sufficient value for the price of their admission. Typically, undercard matches only last for four rounds, to ensure that the crowd does not have to wait too long for the main event.

6. Back up
He told her to back up into the garage.
Every computer manual warns you to back up your work frequently in case of a power outage or computer failure.
7. Title shot
I had a shot at the horse races but lost my money.
8. Turn down flat
He asked me to dance, but I turned him down flat.
We invited her to the party, but she gave us a flat refusal.
9. Whatever you say

Million Dollar Baby is an Academy Award winning 2004 dramatic film directed by Clint Eastwood.

The film stars Eastwood, Hilary Swank, and Morgan Freeman. It is the story of an under-appreciated boxing trainer, his elusive past and his quest for atonement in helping an underdog amateur female boxer (the film's title character) achieve her fragile dream of becoming a professional. The film won four Academy Awards, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor.

The screenplay was written by Paul Haggis, based on short stories by F.X. Toole, the pen name of fight manager and "cutman" Jerry Boyd. Originally published under the title Rope Burns, the stories have since been republished under the movie's title.

Maggie (Hilary Swank), a young female amateur who aspires to prove her worth by becoming a successful boxer, is taken in by Frank Dunn (Clint Eastwood), a down-and-out boxing trainer who has been cast aside by most of society, including his estranged daughter Katie. Dunn aids Maggie in realizing her goal while developing a stronger-than-blood bond. Initially, Dunn is dispassionate toward Maggie because she is a 32-year-old female. Maggie, however, perseveres in her attempts to gain Dunn's favor by training each day in his gym, even when others discourage her. Frank's friend and employee, ex-boxer Eddie "Scrap Iron" Dupris (Morgan Freeman), sympathizes with Maggie's efforts and convinces Dunn to coach her short-term (Dupris is also the narrator of the film, who reveals the extent to which Maggie and Dunn's relationship transforms both their lives).

Having experienced no intimate relationship with his own daughter, Dunn forms a stronger bond with Maggie, whose family does not care for her well-being, and decidedly coaches and manages her professional career. With his expertise, Maggie fights her way up to the women's welterweight boxing division, eventually placing a match in Las Vegas against the WBA women's welterweight champion (played by real life boxer Lucia Rijker), who is known for her foul play. During the match, an attack after the bell by her opponent sends Maggie down toward the mat, directly in the path of her corner stool. Dunn frantically tries to move it out of the way, but cannot reach it in time. As a result, Maggie hits it with neck-shattering force and is paralyzed from the neck down. Dunn, venting his rage at the unjust circumstance, originally blames Dupris for convincing him to bring her in but in the end blames himself for her downfall having trained her against his better judgment.

Clint Eastwood in Million Dollar BabyIn the medical rehabilitation facility, Maggie holds out hope for her family in visiting her, whom Dunn makes repeated calls about the tragic news but to no avail. However, the family arrives several days later (in theme park wardrobe) with an attorney in tow to turn over Maggie's fortunes to them. This appalls Dunn who realizes their motives but when her mother insists that Maggie sign the paperwork that would confirm the family as the beneficiary, she sees through the facade and tells her mother off for good. Eventually, Maggie confides to Dunn that she has "seen it all" and asks to be relieved of suffering. Dunn flat out refuses and begins to question the morality of it all, even speaking with a priest who objects. She attempts suicide by biting her tongue multiple times in an attempt to bleed to death. Her attempt fails since her efforts are subdued and causes Dunn to realize that her suffering should last no more. Dunn ultimately commits euthanasia by injecting her with an overdose of adrenaline. As he is administering the injection, Dunn finally tells Maggie the meaning of Mo Cuishle, a Gaelic phrase Dunn had used as a nickname for her. As the narrator, Dupris states that Dunn then disappears. The film's narration by Dupris is revealed to be a letter to Dunn's daughter, who has forsaken him all the while, to inform her of her father's true character.
