It is often told the Valentine's day started within the time of Roman Empire. Under the rule of the emporer Claudius the II, Rome was involved into many bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius the cruel was having a difficult time getting soldiers join his military leagues. He believed the reason was that Roman men did not want to leave their loves and families. As a result Claudius canceled all marriages and engagements in Rome. But the priest St Valentine secretly marriage couples,contrary to the emperer's order. Then he was prisoned.After his death, he became the patriot saint of lovers.
