An official from Borno state said the gunmen opened fire on a mosque in Konduga town during dawn prayers._________________________________and is likely to have been carried out by the Islamist militant group Boko Haram. Whilst attacks on churches have been common, the militant group has also occasionally targeted mosques. In recent weeks, hundreds of civilians have formed vigilante groups in the areas worst affected by the insurgency.
