A Boy once found a jar full of Nuts and raisins in his mother's kitchen and he put his hand in to help himself to as many as he could hold. When he tried to take his hand out of the jar, however, he found that the opening was too narrow for his clenched fist to pass through.

"What shall I do?" he wailed. "My hand will be stuck in this jar for ever."

Just then his mother came in.

"Really, " she said, "there's nothing to make such a fuss about. Try taking half as many as Nuts and raising as you have in your hand and you'll find it will come out of the jar quite easily."




男孩和核桃

一个男孩在妈妈的厨房里发现了一个装满核桃和葡萄干的罐子，他伸手进去，使劲儿抓了一大把。然而，当他要把手抽出来的时候，却发现灌口太小了，他抓着东西的手拿不出来。

“我该怎么办呢？”他哭着说，“我的手会永远卡在罐子里的。”

正在这时，他妈妈进来了。

“哎呀，”妈妈说，“没有什么大惊小怪的。你把你手里的核桃和葡萄干放下一半，手就会很容易拿出来了。”
