Rio Olympics officials have attributed the alarming green tint of the diving pool used in the Games to a "a proliferation of algae".
里约奥运会官员将跳水池中令人担忧的绿色水归结于“藻类繁殖”。
They have conducted comprehensive chemical tests on the water after it noticeably changed color from an azure blue at the start of the competition, according to the officials.
On the other hand, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) claimed the green color is due to a problem with the pool's acidity after the aquatic center ran out of the chemicals to fix it.
FINA said it had conducted tests and concluded that there was no risk to the health and safety of the athletes.
Suspicions were drawn to the water in the diving pool of the women's 10-meter platform synchro match on August 9th at the Rio Olympic Games, which was not the usual blue but dark green.
The odd scene was captured in the live broadcast of the event, and many athletes also posted photos of the swimming pool, on social media to question the bizarre phenomenon.
