有当过兵的男生写履历表时应该都会用到退伍这个字，退伍就用 discharge 这个字。也有比较不正式的用法叫 left the Army 不过还是以 discharge 较常见。此外补充一下，陆军叫 the Army，海军叫 the Navy，空军是 the Air Force，海军陆战队叫 the Marine Corps。

一般的退伍都是所谓的 honorable discharge，但是如果是因为犯错或是行为不检而被强迫退伍，则叫 dishonorable discharge。
