Dialogue 1

Duncan: We are prepared to order 20 cases of black tea at 10 pounds per kilogram CIF Shanghai.

Lin: That's too low a price I We can hardly make any profit from it.

Duncan: I'm afraid I can't agree with you there. The price we've offered is in line with the world market.

Lin: But China's black tea is of top quality. I should say your price is not reasonable.

Duncan: I'm sorry to hear you say so. Anyhow, our offer will remain valid until November 15th.

Lin: Well,we'll consider it.


Dialogue 2

Zhang: We now offer 100 tons of bitter apricot kernels at the lowest US $ 1000 per ton CIF Shanghai.

Blake: We're very much interested in your offer. How long will your offer hold good?

Zhang: Our offer will hold good till October l0th our time.

Blake: When will the goods be delivered?

Zhang: We'll effect delivery within two weeks after receipt of your L/C.

Blake: Good,but I can't accept it at the moment. I have to report to our manager. I'll let you know the result tomorrow.


Dialogue 3

Cook: We are interested in this product. Please quote us immediately.

Hong: Here is our offer for 10 000 pieces of table cloth at US $ 5 CIF New York. The offer is subject to our final confirmation.

Cook: Oh, I see. How long will your confirmation reach us if we accept it now?

Hong: We'll fax you within three working days.

Cook: Good. We accept your offer. Please fax your confirmation as soon as possible.

Hong: We'll see to it
