When parents go to work, their children often spend the day in child care. That contact with other children can make it easier to get sick. But new research suggests that might have protective effect the few years latter when children start school. A research team looked at data from a large study. That study follows the health of group of Canadian children for all most of their first ten years of the life. Sylvana Cote at the university of Montree led the research team, she says some of the children were more likely to get the sick from the kinds of infection commonly passed around the day care center. But she says those children were also more likely to avoid infection when they enter the elementary school a few years latter. |
