The French president meantime is in Lebanon for a short visit there to show support for the country amid the ongoing violence in neighboring Syria. Francois Hollande arrived in Beirut today where he held talks with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Suleiman. Francois Hollande made his first trip to Lebanon as France's president Sunday. The visit follows a car bomb attack which killed a senior Lebanese intelligence official and several other people in Beirut on October 19. Hollande spoke of the attack during a joint news conference. Hollande says he has come at a decisive moment, and says he wants to voice solidarity with the Lebanese people. Mr. Suleiman has organized talks between the rival factions, called for unity.
