Niger's government says at least 19 soldiers were killed today in a gun battle that followed twin(ed) bombings at a military base and a French-owned uranium mine. Security officials say the car bomb occurred outside a military barracks in the town of Agadez which is located about 800 kilometers northwest of the capital of Niamey. _________________That's the heart of an insurgency now under assault by government troops.
