LESSON 34 the poorest neighborhood

   listen to the material carefully,although it is difficult and sometime you can't write down the correct answer.As long as you have tried,whatever you write down will be the harvest of yours.You should believe that only by accumulating little by little could you learn English welll.so come on.

The newcomers moved into the poorest neighborhood of the large cities. They tended to stay together and cling to their old ways. __________________, they were willing to work for very low wages. This made other workers, especially those in labor unions, afraid that the immigrants with the lower wage level would take jobs away from them. _________________________________.

This opposition finally lead to the posting of immigration law in the 1920’s, which restricted further immigration.
