How To Say It

1、big fish in a small pond 小地方的大人物
   A:I haven't seen your sister for a long time.我很久没见到你姐姐了。
   B:She has been working in our hometown.She is a big fish in a small town.他一直在我们家乡工作，他在当地是个了不起的人物。
2、a stone's throw一箭之遥
   A：Where did Jack live?杰克住在哪里？
　　Ｂ：Ｈｅ　ｌｉｖｅｓ　ｏｎｌｙ　ａ　ｓｔｏｎｅ　ｔｈｒｏｗ　ｆｒｏｍ　ｈｅｒｅ．他住的地方离这里只有一箭之遥。
3、all gone(希望)消逝，丢失（物品）等
   A:My god !My wallet is all gone !天哪，我的钱包不见了！
   B

id you leave it at home?是不是丢在家里了？
4、all for it完全同意，完全赞成（别人的看法或意见）
   A:This plan is feasible,isn't it ?这个计划可行，你说呢？
   B:Go ahead with your plan,I'm all for  it .执行这个计划吧，我完全赞成。
5、come easily易如反掌
   A :It is very difficult to learn a foreign language.学门外语真难。
   B:But languages come easily to some peaple .但对有些人来说，语言学习易如反掌。
6、all in all总的来说，总而言之
   A:What about your trip to xi'an?你的西安之行怎么样？
   B: All in all it is a good trip.总的来说还不错。
7、don't have a cow别大惊小怪
   A:God !What a mess!天哪！真是一团糟！
   B

on't have a cow !I 'll pay for the damages.别大惊小怪我会赔偿损失的。
8、push around欺骗
A:I will tell you the truth somenday.以后我会告诉你真相的。
B

on't try to push me around!别想耍我！
9、go up in smoke成为泡影
   A:Is Tom on vacation now?汤姆在度假么？
   B:Tom's vacation plans went up in smoke because o f the storm.由于暴风雨，汤姆的假期泡汤了。
10、hit the road 上路
   A:It  is still early now.Why not stay here a little longger?现在还早，多呆一会吧？
   B:We should probably hit the road .It's going to take us one hour to get home.我们可能该上路了吧，到家得要一给小时呢。
11、shape up 表现良好
   A:Can  I watch TV now?我现在能看电视么？
   B:You'd better shape up  if you want to watch TV.
12、scare the shit out of somenone吓死某人了
   A:Hi,Rose!嗨，罗斯！
   B

on't sneak up behind me like that .You scared the shit out of me .不要那样从后面突然吓我，你吓死我了。
