初恋 (new love or beginning love):
They hit it off from the start;it was almost love at first sight.

(to have feelings for someone=to have emotional attachment to someone)( strong只是加重语气)
They met up in a coffee shop and discovered they clicked.

(to meet up = to meet;to click = to get along well)
He has always had a crush on her.
(他对她有好感。)
He is a guy whom she has been carrying a torch for since high school.
(她从高中以来就喜欢他。)
(to carry a torch for someone = to have a crush on someone)
He met her and immediately fell (hard) for her.
(他一见到她就迷恋上她了。)
(to fall hard for someone = to be infatuated with someone)(hard只是加强语气)
Infatuation can be the first step toward love.
(迷恋可能是爱情的第一步。)
They had a great long dinner with heavy flirting.
(他们吃了一顿很长的晚餐,彼此送秋波,拋媚眼。)
(flirting = flirtation)
They hit it off very well right off the bat.
(他们从一开始就相处得很好。)
(right off the bat = right away or right from the be-ginning)
It seems like things between them are heating up.
(他们之间似乎认真起来。)(似乎迸出爱情火花)
(to heat up = to get more serious)
Once you love him, don't go overboard;he may back off.
(一旦你爱他,不可太积极,否则他会退却。)
to go overboard = to overdo
to back off = to pull away
Let the man do the pursuing;when something comes too easily, it often is not valued.
(要让男人来追你;一件东西要是太容易到手,就不珍贵了。)

Men fall in love through their eyes;women fall in love through their ears.
(男人爱女人因为她看起来漂亮迷人;女人爱男人因为他说起话来体贴温柔。)
= Men like beauty;women like compliments.

Take a hard look before leaping into a relationship.

(hard look = have your eyes wide open;leaping =jumping)

(虽然他说爱她,但他说的,似乎是空话。)
(ring hollow = seem empty)
His lack of candor should make her suspicious.
(他不诚恳,令她怀疑。)
(candor = candour = honesty)
She loves him, but is not in love with him.
(她爱他,但不是与他谈恋爱。)
(love指一般的爱;to be (或fall) in love with someone 指与某人谈恋爱。)
She is afraid she will not be able to catch the man of her dreams.
(她怕找不到她梦中的男人。)
(dream 多半用复数,表示女人有许多梦想。)
He never felt good enough for her.
(他总是觉得自己与她不相配。)
(to feel good enough = to feel adequate)
She is no spring chicken and never expects to find love again.

(no spring chicken = not young)

(提起精神吧!爱情即将来临。)
(to keep one's chin up = to keep one's spirit up)
She feels ready to test the water and begins dating.
(她觉得可以尝试一下约会。)
(to test the water = to try it out)
(it 指 water,也就是指 dating)
Many people call dating the boss a no-no
(许多人认为不可与上司约会。)
(no-no 当名词用)
She is living by Victorian principles;right now their relationship is based on platonic love.
(她的生活很保守,目前他们的关系,只是纯洁的友谊。)
Victorian principles本指维多利亚时代的守旧原则=Very conservative(V要大写);Platonic love本指柏拉图式的精神恋爱= just common friend(P可不必大写)
They had an on-and-off relationship for one year.
(他们一年来有断断续续的感情。)
It is appropriate for her to check up on him some-times.
(她有时对他做些调查,也是恰当的。)
(to check up on someone = to investigate someone)
Love is at its best when it is mutual;when it's not, it's torture.
(彼此相爱是最好,否则是受罪。)
(注意:its 是代名词的所有格;而its = it is)
As he is smart and handsome, he leads her into temptation.
(由于他聪明英俊,让她着迷。)
(he leads her into temptation = he seduces her)
It's worth kissing a few frogs to meet a Prince Charming.
(如能找到一位理想的人,即使之前遇到几位不好的男人,也是值得。)(frog 本指青蛙,此指不美或不好的男人= wrong or ugly man;Prince Charming 本是神话中完美的男子 = handsome dream man;P 和 C 都要大写)(也就是王子与青蛙之别。)(
