A contest to win a dream holiday for two turnedsintosa tax nightmare for Swedish student Catharina Modin.
Lured by thoughts of a luxury trip abroad, she entered the competition to devise a Ad slogan and said she would like a holiday in Hawaii, one of several destinations offered, if she won.
She did indeed win, but instead of tickets to Hawaii, she received a gift certificate worth 20,000 crowns (,920) and a travel brochure, the Swedish daily Expressen reported Monday.
“When I was going to book my journey the money wasn't enough even for the cheapest Hawaii-trip in the brochure,”Modin, 25, said.
The real shock, however, came later when the Swedish tax authorities informed her she has to pay around 13,000 crowns in income tax on the prize.
“This is completely sick,”said Modin. She has reported the case to the consumer rights ombudsman.

然而“好戏”还在后头,不久,瑞典税收当局通知莫丁说,她需要为获奖缴纳1.3万克郎的收入所得税。
