Ada： The voice you hear is not my speaking voice---but my mind's voice. I have not spoken since I was six years old.
Ada：你所听到的声音不是我说话的声音，而是我思想的声音。我从六岁起就不再说话了。
Ada： I have told you the story of your father many many times.
Ada：我已经跟你讲了很多次你爸爸的故事。
Flora： Oh, tell me again! Was he a teacher?

Ada： Yes.
Ada：是的。
Flora： How did you speak to him?
Flora：你怎么跟他说话呢？
Ada： I didn't need to speak. I could lay thoughts out in his mind like they were a sheet.
Ada：我不用跟他说话。我能把所想融入他的思想，就好像有一张纸写在那。
Flora： Why didn't you get married?
Flora：你们为什么不结婚？
Ada： He became frightened and stopped listening.
Ada：因为他开始变得害怕，并且不再听我所想。

Holly : I don't want to own anything until I find a place where me and things go together. I'm not sure where that is but I know what it is like. It's like Tiffany's.

Paul : Tiffany's? You mean the jewelry store.

Holly : I'm like cat here, a no-name slob. We belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. We don't even belong to each other.

Paul : You know what's wrong with you, Miss Whoever-you-are? You're chicken, you've got no guts. You're afraid to stick out your chin and say, "Okay, life's a fact, people do fall in love, people do belong to each other, because that's the only chance anybody's got for real happiness." You call yourself a free spirit, a "wild thing," and you're terrified somebody's gonna stick you in a cage. Well baby, you're already in that cage. You built it yourself. And it's not bounded in the west by Tulip, Texas, or in the east by Somali-land. It's wherever you go. Because no matter where you run, you just end up running into yourself.
