Five staff working for Gucci's flagship store in Shenzhen have accused the company of unpaid overtime, the National Business Daily reported Monday.
This is the second dispute over overtime payment between Gucci and its employees in China this year. In August, a former operation manager of Gucci (China) filed for overtime payment and submitted the labor arbitration application to Chaoyang Arbitration Committee for Labor Disputes in Beijing.
An anonymous employee of Gucci who had been sent overseas for training told the newspaper that, in comparison to local staff, foreign staffs have never experienced overtime payment issues.
A person from the Gucci public relations department said the company has clear rules that overtime payment that the staffs deserve will be paid according to China's relevant laws. The spokesperson said that Gucci attaches great importance to staff's welfare.
The revenue of Gucci in Greater China Region increased by 35.6 percent in the first half of this year, contributing to its profit growth. The luxury brand also expressed its willingness to speed up in opening stores on the Chinese mainland but the payment dispute may affect its expansion plan, the newspaper said.
