It took me a while to figure out how to do this problem.

我花了好一会儿才想出如何做这个问题。

花了多少时间要用take或spend，但二者所用的主语不同，动词型式也不同。take需要使用虚主词it，动词要用to V，例如我花了五小时做功课就是"It took me five hours to do the homework."但如果要用spend的话，则必须用人当主语，动词要使用V-ing的形式（因为V-ing前省略掉了一个介系词in）。例如"I spent five hours doing my homework."这二者的句型是截然不同的。

It took me a while是我个人很喜欢的句型之一喔！像是我们回信时常会说“对不起，让你等了这么久才回信。”像以前我都会说"Sorry, I made you wait so long."后来我发现老美也很喜欢这么说"Sorry, it took me a while to reply to your message."（对不起，我过了好一些时间才回你的信。）
