After another three hours, I still couldn't see the bottom. Each time I looked down, I saw the hole get smaller.
又过了三个小时，我仍然看不到底。每次向下看，我都发现洞变得越来越小。
Ten hours later, I still could not see the bottom, although we had gone down nearly twenty-eight hundred feet.
十个小时后，我还是看不到底，尽管我们已经向下走了将近两千八百英尺。
Soon after coming to this conclusion, Hans told us to stop.
得到这个结论后不久，汉斯叫我们停下来。
"We've arrived," said my uncle.
“我们已经到了，”我叔叔说。
"Where?" I asked.
“哪儿？”我问。
"At the bottom of the hole."
“洞底。”
"Is there another opening?" I asked, looking around into the darkness.
“还有其他入口吗？”我在黑暗中四处张望着问。
"Yes, I can see a passageway off the right. We'll look into that tomorrow. First, we'll have a dinner, and then we'll sleep."
“是的，我能看到一个向右的通道。我们明天再进去看看。我们先吃饭，然后睡觉。”
We had some food, then got ready to sleep.
Looking up, I saw a bright spot overhead. It was a star in the sky. I then fell asleep.

抬头向上看去，我看见头上有个亮点。那是天上的一颗星星。然后我就睡着了。
