该词前一般要用can或be able to
  
【辨析】
afford  [ ə’fɔ:d ] 意为"花费，买，经受得起"，指有经济条件或有时间做某事，后面可接名词、代词或不定式。
buy [ bai ]  作’’买，购买’’讲，使用范围较广，可接双宾语。
charge  [ tʃɑ:dʒ ] 意为’’讨价，收费，索取’’，是指卖方要价或索取费用。
cost  [ kɔst ] 表示’’值多少钱，花费’’，指需要付出的代价。
expend   [ iks’pend ]常用于工商、金融或政府等方面的花销，故适于指较大数额的开销，还可指花费时间、精力等。
pay  [ pei ] 作’’支付，付清，缴纳’’讲，指买方向卖方付款。
