Never be unduly elated by victory or depressed by defeat. ----- Porter  胜不骄,败不馁。----波特
  depressed: low in spirits; dejected.情绪低落的;沮丧的。例如:A dispirited and resigned expression on her face.她脸上的表情气馁和消沉。He was depressed by the loss of his job.他由于失去了工作而情绪低落。
  当然,depressed也可以指低下的意思。我们形容一个人的水平不到家,比别人低,可以说:achievement is depressed。例如:His reading achievement is depressed.他的阅读能力低于一般水平。另外,我们常常听见这个单词----贫困地区,它就是depressed areas。
  当我们表示喜悦胜利的心情时,会用手指打出一个胜利的V字。这就是victory。我们这里要了解一下victory、conquest、triumph的区别。他们都含"取胜"、"胜利"的意思。victory指"在战争、竞赛、斗争中获胜",并有"击败对方或敌人"的含义,例如:They won a victory in battle.他们在战斗中获胜。conquest指"征服某国或某民族,从而使之处于被支配地位的胜利或战胜",例如:They succeeded in the conquest of that city.他们夺取了那城市。triumph指"辉煌或彻底的胜利或成功",例如:return home in triumph凯旋归来。
生活中没有一帆风顺的事情,但切记,不要向挫折低头。
