Angela Ammons was 17 years old when Abrupt/Universal signed her to record her debut album in 2001. She had played them demos that had been recorded through a series of lucky breaks during a trip to California. The label paired her with producers Shep and Kenny (Mandy Moore, LFO, Marcy Playground) to record her first pop/rock album, which drew favorable comparisons to other pop stars like Jessica Simpson.
