thirteen senses乐队成员四人都来自英格兰的cornwall, Will South是乐队的主唱，同时负责部分吉他和键盘的演奏，Tom Welham为乐队的吉他手，另外两名是bass手Adam Wilson和鼓手Brendon James。四人在学院结识后组建了thirteen senses,初期主要是在英格兰的西南部做一些小的演出。2003年12月，thirteen senses进驻伦敦，开始了真正意义的乐队生涯。
2004年的3月乐队发表他们的首张单曲《Thru The Glass》（05年的一月这张单曲再版发行）。之后第二张单曲唱片《Do No Wrong》的发表可以算作成功的后继，但第三张单曲唱片《into the fire》的发表才算是为thirteen senses的发展彻底铺平了道路。《into the fire》也成为thirteen senses目前最红的热门单曲。紧随其后正式发表的专辑《the invitation》虽然已有大部分作品提前在单曲唱片中曝光，使专辑缺乏神秘感，但在12首曲目中，除了提到的《into the fire》一气呵成以及《Thru The Glass》跌宕起伏外，《gone》里的假声漂亮而经典，《the salt wound routine》中的钢琴理性而认真。
