second writing:
you should try your best to write some compositions, then you can ask your teacher to modify them

I absolutely agree upstair's opinion. Reading is very important. During reading you can learn a lot of vocabulary. Many words appear again and again, it could be a good way to help you to memorize these new words. It is better than you to remember single word. At the same time, you also can improve your writing skills. Therefore, the more you read, the more you can improve.
