The International Energy Agency, the developed world's energy watchdog, has called for China to join the body, warning it risked losing relevance as demand shifted to Asia away from its current members.

发达国家的能源监督机构——国际能源机构(International Energy Agency)呼吁中国加入，警告称，随着需求从其目前的成员国转向亚洲，该机构有可能丧失相关性。

Nobuo Tanaka, executive director of the IEA, told the Financial Times: “Our relevance is under question because half of the energy consumption is already in non-Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development countries. And for oil it [will soon be] that the majority of consumption is happening in non-OECD countries.”

IEA总干事田中伸男(Nobuo Tanaka)向英国《金融时报》表示：“由于一半的能源消费发生在经合组织(OECD)以外的国家，我们的相关性正受到质疑。就石油而言，大部分的消费（不久将）发生在非经合组织国家。”
