A man surnamed Ke, a relative of the victim, said a compensation agreement had been reached between Anliang Group and the family but that Xiang's husband has fallen into deep grief over her death.
A preliminary investigation found that Suzhou Shenlong Elevator Co., Ltd, Hubei Anliang Group and Hubei Defu Mechanical & Electronic Equipment company are among the responsible parties for the incident.
The investigation revealed that factors such as faulty designs, a lack of safety precautions and an absence of inspections and emergency training all contributed to the accident.
