Little Fly
Thy summer’s play
My thoughtless hand
Has brush’d away

Am not I
A fly like thee?
Or art not thou
A man like me?

For I dance
And drink & sing,
Till some blind hand
Shall brush my wing.

If thought is life
And strength & breath,
And the want
Of thought is death;

Then am I
A happy fly,
If I live,
Or if I die.

　　在这首《苍蝇》中，诗人把人和苍蝇的位置对调过来，这样看世界、看生命、看追求就有另外一种境界。在生活中，人难道不就和苍蝇一样？人所写的诗篇和苍蝇的歌唱又有什么区别？接着，诗人要我们理解，若思想是生命呼吸和力量，对思想的渴望是死亡，那么，人蝇之间就没有区别。布莱克认为，人必须挣脱一切束缚，解放、强化人的合理欲望，才能达到一种最有活力、最有能量的状态。
