Apollo the God of Sun, lights up the torch, and the Olympic flame travels from ancient
Olympia to all corners of the world on it’s journey to Beijing. At the same time, a branch
of an olive tree leaves it’s home land of Greece to accompany the flame to China, to
wreath the heads of the champions.
The two symbols unchanged from ancient times are the Olympic Torch and the Olive tree
branch. These have been there since the very beginning. What does the torch and the
olive tree branch symbolize? Why did the ancient Greeks put them together?
We will journey back n time to discover the answer to these questions and many more.
