我们中国学生常用party，而在美国的年轻人却很少提及这个词，原因不是他们不喜欢party，而是其种类太多，已被各种具体的名称代替。不要再用party那么粗犷啦，来点详细的吧。
bash这个词基本上可以替代party，原意为“相聚取乐”，或参加咖啡聚会，后来多指社会名流参加的豪华聚会，到现在多指一般的舞会，聚会和晚会。
例如：
I got to know my boyfriend at the birthday bash of one of my buds.
我是在一个朋友的生日舞会上认识我男朋友的。
I will go to a bash at my friend's house this weekend.
这个周末我要到朋友家参加晚会。
