made it known 就是将什么什么公之于众。it是形式宾语，真正的宾语是后面的that引导的从句。much of就是什么什么东西的大多数，大部分。left to somebody 就是留给某人的意思。

who is 78 是前面的定语，has 是谓语，但后面的就看不太懂。

spring这里是动词，是“出现，产生”的意思。being是存在的意思。。连在一起，spring into being就是出现，涌现的意思，和come into being的意思一样。overnight adv 是一夜间，突然的意思。nor在句首，句子要半倒装.
