第一句中文译文值得商榷:

In many circumstances, failure is an asset, even a prerequisite to success in another direction.

我译：在许多情况下，失败是一种财富，甚至可以说是通往成功的必备条件。

原文：
1）“失败是难能可贵的事”，含糊不清，不如“财富”明确。
2）“...，甚至是在另外方面成功的先决条件”， 这是纯粹字面翻译。in another direction是指failure是不会直接导致success，需要将failure变成asset，这是一个过程，理解/学习/经验等等。

所以，In many circumstances,“失败是成功之母”。只不过老外的表述更加精确罢了！
